How did we get our start?

Byer of Maine began as a maker of slippers and textile products. We continued refining our stitching operations while branching out to wooden cot production. During WWII, we were called upon to supply troops with a place to lay their heads. We also doubled our efforts to cut and sew canvas supplies for the war effort. In the 1950’s, the company’s focus returned to consumer products.

Crafted from renewable Keruing wood or Eucalyptus Grandis, these wood folding chairs have been dipped in oil for an extra protective finish and covered with an attractive heavy-weight polyester canvas. The varnish makes the wood protects against whatever he elements may throw at it. The canvas is easy to dry if it gets wet and tough enough to withstand outdoor use.
Since these foldable garden chairs are simple to move and easy to carry, you can use them at your cabin both inside or out by the campfire. Plenty of canvas gives this chair a comfortable, low rise posture, perfect for lounging on the beach with your toes in the ocean. Though the canvas is sturdy, it won’t chafe or scratch you, and is plenty soft even if you’re wearing a swimsuit or shorts.

The warm mid-range stain can match most furniture, giving a room a natural and relaxed look. Wood camp chairs dimensions are 22″D x 17″W x 26″H, and holds up to 225lbs. The durable canvas can stretch a bit to accomodate larger bodies within the confines of the wood frame. It also folds up smaller than a cot and fits well packed in to a car or camper. Could be used in a canoe as a stool for an extended paddle. Best for day outings, use around a home or cabin, or camping from a car, trailer or camper.
